Bio
Nadia Charlery
I am a Martinican director, of African descent, passionate about stories that reflect us and lift us up. I write, I direct, I edit, but above all I am curious about other people, so I tell their stories in their reality and their singularity, with a fierce desire to bring to life faces and voices we hear too little.
A graduate of ESRA Paris, I came back to Martinique to live my passion for the image. After several years as an assistant director and production manager, I moved into directing. Since Le Pense-bête, my first short, I have directed music videos, commercials, TV magazines and short films, some of them award-winning in the Caribbean and internationally. I share my experience by leading workshops and training.
I am also a casting director, working on many local productions as well as projects for France 2 and Canal+ and, more recently, for Netflix with the series Bandi.
I am currently working on my creative documentary and writing my first fiction feature.
